This 12-day premium overland tour explores South Africa’s iconic coastline, moving from Cape Town along the scenic Garden Route to the Eastern Cape, before looping back through the semi-desert Karoo and Cape Winelands.
Trip Overview
    • Route: Commences in Cape Town, traces the Whale Coast (Hermanus, Arniston, Cape Agulhas) to the Garden Route (Knysna, Tsitsikamma), reaches its easternmost point at Addo, and returns via Oudtshoorn to Franschhoek.

Daily Itinerary Breakdown
    • Days 1–2: Cape Town & Peninsula: Explore Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Boulders Beach penguin colony, and Cape Point, concluding with a Constantia wine tasting.
    • Days 3–5: Overberg & Southern Tip: Whale watch in Hermanus, visit Kassie Baai fishing village in Arniston, stand at the southernmost point of Africa at Cape Agulhas, and join an ocean safari.
    • Days 6–7: Garden Route: Experience an ocean zipline in Mossel Bay, a Knysna estuary cruise, a guided tour at Monkeyland, and views of the Bloukrans Bridge.
    • Days 8–9: Addo Elephant Park: Stop in the surf hub of Jeffreys Bay before tracking wildlife during dedicated game drives in the Eastern Cape’s premier national park.
    • Days 10–12: Karoo, Winelands & Departure: Head into the semi-desert to tour the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, enjoy wine tastings in Franschhoek, and transfer to Cape Town International Airport (includes a domestic flight to Johannesburg if required).

12 DAY GARDEN ROUTE SOUTH AFRICA (EXCLUSIVE)

HIGHLIGHTS:  Table Mountain, Cape Point Reserve, Ocean Safari Hermanus, Most Southern Point of Africa, Knysna Estuary Cruise, Monkeyland, Game drives Addo National Park, Cango Caves and wine tasting in Franschhoek.

DAY 1: CAPE TOWN
Arriving in Cape Town, your guide will meet you at the international airport.  From the airport your guide will drive you to the city and your hotel, where you will check in and enjoy lunch.  After lunch you will then transfer to the world heritage site of Table Mountain. This usually takes around an hour and a half before returning to the foot of the mountain. From there you will visit Bo-Kaap. The area is famous for its colorfully painted homes of the Cape Malay community. From there your guide will take you out for dinner.

DAY 2: CAPE PENINSULA
Departing from your hotel after breakfast our first visit will be at the Kirstenbosch botanical Gardens for an hour or so, then your guide will drive you to the bolder beach to visit the African Penguin colony, this usually take a while and then from there you make your way to the Cape nature reserve, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.   From the coastal area of the most southern western point of Africa, we make our way to Hout Bay through the spectacular drive over Chapman’s peak. Once in Hout Bay your guide will take you out for lunch. After lunch you will end the day with a wine tasting at the world famous Constantia wine estate before returning to the city of Cape town.

DAY 3: HERMANUS
Western Cape Departing from Cape town after breakfast we make our way down along the scenic part of the Cape along the coast. We stop off a few times along the way for a break and once we reach Hermanus your guide will show you around and also stop off for lunch.  Hermanus is also a very nice town to do some shopping at the markets and walk along the coast to look out for Southern right Whales that visit the coastal areas of the Western Cape.  Your guide will also take you to a few museums in Hermanus. Whale museum and De Wet’s museum  You can also enjoy a hike through Fern Kloof Nature Reserve . Your guide will also inform you about the Ocean safari for the next morning.

DAY 4: ARNISTON WESTERN CAPE
This morning starts off with an Ocean Safari for around 2 hours. Your guide will transport you down to the new harbor and will introduce you to the host for the safari. Once back from the safari we travel further east to the small town of Gans Baai for the opportunity to do a shark cage dive. (Optional at own cost).  After lunch we make our wat to Arniston arriving in the afternoon. Here your guide will take you on the walk through the small fishing village of Kassie Baai where you can meet some of the fisherman and their families. You will also experience the fishing harbor in Arniston.

DAY 5: CAPE AGULHAS AND WAANHUISKRAAL
After a relaxing morning we take a drive to the most Southern Point of Africa through the country side and then once we have visited the Cape Agulhas area where you will find the most Southern Point of Africa, your guide will then take you to the Light house where you can climb to the top for a better view of the coastline.  From there we make our way back to Arniston and visit the area of Waanhuiskraal and weather permitting we will also visit the Waanhuiskraal Caves once use by shipwreck sailors

DAY 6: KNYSNA WESTERN CAPE
Departing after breakfast we make our way through the country side and then onto South Africa second national road and we visit Mosselbay for the Zipline over the ocean. From there we enter the Garden route and make our way to Knysna stopping off along the way for lunch.  Once in Knysna your guide will have booked you a boat cruise on the Knysna estuary for a cruise that lasts around 2 hours The Garden Route is a 300 km scenic coastal stretch in South Africa’s Western and Eastern Cape, running along the N2 highway between Mosselbay and Storms River. Known for its temperate climate, indigenous forests, and dramatic coastlines, it includes major towns like George and Knysna, and features activities like the Bloukrans bungee jump.

DAY 7: TSITSIKAMMA NATIONAL PARK
Today starts off with a visit to the Eastern Head of the Knysna Heads, something not to be missed. The views from the top are spectacular. From there we make our way through the garden route and stop off at Monkeyland for an hour’s tour through the park before making our way to Tsitsikamma. We also stop off at the Bloukrans Bungi jump for a view of the Bloukrans River and for those wanting to try the Bungi are more than welcome.(Optional at own cost)

DAYS 8 & 9:  ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK – EASTERN CAPE
After enjoying a relaxing morning we depart for the Addo Elephant national park, your guide will also stopover in Jeffreys Bay for a visit to the small town for some shopping before making our way to the Addo Elephant park.  Once in the park we make our way to the lodge for the next 2 nights. Here you can enjoy the tranquility of the Addo Elephant Park. Your guide will also make sure you get all the information about your game drive times in the park.

DAY 10: OUDTSHOORN WESTERN CAPE
Departing from Addo we start making our way back to the Western Cape and then through to the Karoo town of Oudtshoorn. The drive takes you into the scenic, semi-desert region of the Western Cape, nestled between the Langeberg and Swartberg mountains. Once through the karoo and arriving in Oudtshoorn we will visit the Cango gave before booking in at the accommodation for the night.

DAY 11 FRANSCHHOEK
Departing after breakfast we make our way further west through some of the most scenic part of the karoo and through some of the fruit growing parts of the Western Cape, Your guide will stop of for a break along the way. Once in Franschhoek your guide will have booked you a wine tasting experience with one of the companies that specialize in the art of wine tasting for the afternoon.

DAY 12 CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
After a relaxing morning at your guesthouse your guide will make sure you are at the Cape Town International Airport for your flight back home or if you are flying to Johannesburg for further travel, your flight is included in the tour package.
